Snowy mountain and water

They kill the small ones first

A lot has changed since the heyday of ‘Merican Might. Gone is the master class pulling strings to further their agenda. No longer do they plunder, destabilize, democratize, and otherwise fuck with the rest of the world.

They kept up their power-game of control and chaos until the shift. That is until the climate did change to the point that even they couldn’t cover it up. Then came civil wars and anarchy.

There was too much pressure and too many people. Most of North America is now entering a new ice age, and everyone living in Canada or Alaska is either dead or have migrated south into the continental U.S. And what do you get when you put too many people in an ever-shrinking space? Madness!

Fueled by growing frustration from within and the oh-so-convenient aide from new superpowers on Earth, America was plunged into a bloody nightmare. Not one, but three separate nuclear warheads were deployed. New York, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles are gone. Millions of people are dead. America is no longer, and Trump’s wall is finally working.

As people flee south escaping death and misery, they inexorably come up against their wall, but now, the paradigm has shifted. Anti-American groups from around the world work together to bar entry into Mexico, and It has become a killing field.

Even the undocumented immigrants that had illegally entered the United States in search of a better life can’t go back. It’s a zero-tolerance policy punishable immediately by death. Anyone coming within 100 meters of the wall is shot, and they shoot the small ones first. They target the children and the women hoping that others will pause to help. Then, they kill them all.

The defenders of the wall are not burdened by the lack of humanity shown in their actions to stop the masses. They aren’t bound by the treaties of Geneva and are otherwise happy to be set free to right the scales of perceived injustice that they have endured for the past century. They say to themselves, Down with America.

But America is not dead. The old guard may be gone, but a new one emerges. What is the strength of a country, if not its people? Those who strive and fight and survive. Those who stay. There will always be people who walk away looking for a better life, but those who stay and fight to make a better life where they are, live to create something greater than themselves.

What is life, if not balance? Unfortunately, humans create imbalance. The very nature of their intelligence and creativity to fulfill their desires (their greed) ultimately creates such an imbalance that in the end, even they can’t fix it. In the end, even they can’t stop it.

This isn’t the first shift, and it won’t be the last. And while many now think they have the upper hand and are in control, the worst hasn’t come. A true balance is on its way, and no one may survive, save the Earth itself.

The Earth will continue and overcome the unimportant afflictions brought upon her. She plays the long game after all. She has the patience of eternity. Humankind is another matter, delicate, and temporary, and unbalanced.

The future is unknown. Time is irrelevant. There is only now.
